Pipe schedule is shorthand for wall thickness. The same 2" nominal pipe can be SCH 40 (3.91 mm wall) or SCH 160 (8.74 mm) depending on the pressure it must contain.

STD (standard) matches SCH 40 up to 10", while XS (extra strong) matches SCH 80. XXS (double extra strong) is reserved for the most demanding services.

When ordering, always confirm three things: nominal pipe size (NPS), schedule or wall thickness, and material grade (for example ASTM A106 Gr B seamless for high-temperature service, or API 5L X52 for pipelines).
